Ibirapuera House

The design for the house bases itself on the creation of the central patio, the light source for the interior. There, thriving and round-topped, is the Sibipiruna, a Brazilian tree of considerable size: it reaches 28 meters high. Although generous for a densely populated area of São Paulo, designing in the 470 m2 site was not a simple task – and not just due to the existence of the tree. The work was challenging because the site had a triangular shape, and the owners wanted an extensive plan with more than five bedrooms. To maximize the perception of amplitude and the quality of the spaces, the design builds on the perimeter of the site and leaves the narrower corner of the triangle open. Thus, forming a courtyard that is the focal point and a great source of natural light to all the main interior spaces. The vision from inside the house in one of a pleasant garden where the landscaping gives the Sibipiruna a noble position.
